Remigius DeRyckere's account of his early experiences in Deer Lodge, Montana as dictated to Sister M. Syra Keiley in 1905. He details his arrival over the mountains from Walla Walls in July 1866, the establishment of a chapel and later the church of the Immaculate Conception, the various mining camps he visited, the pain of a mashed forefinger, the coming of the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, and the development of Butte. The remaining two pages read as his farewell to Deer Lodge in 1910.
